Happy New Year

Red Barn

Happy New Year!!
It has been too long since my last post, and it feels good to get back to painting and posting. I did not paint on canvas much in 2014, but I was busy with a few creative projects, including painting a few murals. My biggest focus for the past year has been on my family, as being a mother is my first priority. Now, as I look forward to a fresh start in 2015, my plan is to paint more, but also to create a healthy balance in all areas of my life. I'll be keeping the following quote in mind throughout the year; it is too easy to get caught up in going to the extreme in trying to doing everything all the time:

"The key to keeping your balance is knowing when you've lost it". - Unknown

The "Red Barn" sketch was done in the summer. As I came upon this scene while walking in a local park, I was immediately drawn to the color of the turquoise truck against the red of the barn. I went back on another day with my easel and paints hoping the truck would still be parked in the same spot, much to my delight, it was still there.
