Dexter

10" x 10"
Oil on Linen
NFS

I knew I wanted to paint Dexter the first time I saw him. I couldn't resist those soulful eyes and beautiful mane. In addition to being a handsome fellow, he also has the sweetest personality and loves children. When he visits our home, he nuzzles my daughter's head, and sits in her lap. Dexter was adopted from a rescue organization and has been a wonderful companion for his owner. There are so many dogs waiting for adoption, check out www.petfinder.com.

Pumpkin Head - SOLD

6" x 6"
Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
SOLD
This is my entry for the DPW's, "Paint your Pumpkin Challenge." Chester received a special treat for this trick. He really is such a good sport; however, he was much too proud to pose as Scooby-Doo for Halloween, so we made sure he had his very own costume.

Really?

Sherman and Sam

6" x 6"
Oil on Canvas
NFS
This is Sherman. I painted him as a gift for my son's teacher. Sherman is an older cat with failing health, but still has quite the personality. I love hearing stories about Sherman and the other family pet, Sam, a 2 year old, high energy, Wire Fox Terrier. Last year, I had the pleasure of painting a portrait of Sam too - see below. When Sam was just a few months old, we offered to take care of him for a morning, to help us decide if we wanted to adopt a puppy or an older dog. Sam is a sweet, little guy, but after he tore through our house bouncing off the walls, it didn't take me long to make up my mind. Several months later, we found our sleepy-head Chester.

This is Chester with our neighbor's dog, Kelsey. As you can see from this special moment between the two of them, Chester is very fond of her. My neighbor and I have found ourselves arranging play dates for the two of them, the same way are always planning play time for our daughters. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Kelsey this week, as the whole family is preparing to move back to Massachusetts. There are some very sad hearts in our house, we will miss all of them very much.

Chester Sleeping

6" x 6"
Oil on Illustration board
NFS
This is Chester doing what Chester does best - sleep! About 5 months ago, our family adopted this handsome fellow. We had spent a good part of last year searching for the right dog to adopt, and we finally found him through Petfinder. He was found wandering the streets, and had become so thin you could see all of his ribs, but still waging his tail, happy to greet anyone who would give him the time. He was 43 lbs. when he was found, and he is now a healthy 54 lbs. Thankfully, a local rescue group took him in and cared for him until he found us; it seems as though he has always been ours.

Diggy

Posted by Picasa
9 x 12
Oil on Hardboard
Diggy is a Cairn Terrier, just like Toto from the Wizard of Oz. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, so I hope that I captured his likeness and spirit. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this painting will go to a local non-profit animal ministry.
Stay posted for more furry friends to come.
