Tomatoes and Olive Oil

12"x16'
Oil on Linen
$225.00

Here is another one for my upcoming show in December at the Clayton Center Gallery.
Sometimes it's nice to get back to our comfort zone....I just love painting still life. In this one, I wanted to capture the glow of the olive oil and the fleshiness of the cut tomato. Now, all I need is a crunchy loaf of Italian bread and I have the start to a great meal.

To-do List

6" x 6"
Oil on Panel
SOLD
I am notorious for creating too many to-do lists on little pieces of paper and then losing them! Thankfully, I now use my ipad for organizing all of my lists, which makes it harder to lose - it's a great tool, unless one of your kids deletes the app you were using to maintain the lists (this really did happen). Sigh....
I had a long list of to-do's today, so I thought I would focus on painting from life, in timed segments, and force myself to limit the number of strokes. I like the result, it is more painterly, and fresh.

Day 5 - "E" is for Eggs

6"x6"
Oil on Canvas
$60.00

I was up late finishing this one, but managed to get it done. The most challenging part of painting in this smaller format is leaving enough space around the objects. I tried using a viewfinder (made of a mat board and a piece of acrylic) to help with the composition. See the illustration below.
On to the letter "F"......
I have 25 more paintings to practice getting it right.

It is only day 4 of the 30 day challenge and I am getting tired already, but having fun in the process. I have a whole new respect for those artists that have been producing daily paintings for a while.
