Sweet Taste of Summer

12" x 12"
Oil on Panel
$250.00

Nothing is more refreshing than a slice of cold watermelon in the middle of summer; I love painting fruit, but watermelon is one of my favorites. I spent a lot of time arranging and rearranging this still life trying to create variety in the color, value, and texture. I love when a painting has mostly light, or middle value tones with one dark object like the brown, glass bottle in this one. I was glad to paint my favorite salt shaker too, but the question is - to salt, or not to salt?

Day 9 - "I" is for Irish

6" x 6"
Oil on Panel
SOLD

We received this little bottle of Bailey's Irish Creme in a gift basket for Christmas, and I was lucky enough to find the glass in a thrift store today. I am hoping tomorrow will be the day I catch up and paint an extra one to give me some breathing room this weekend.

Forsythia

6" x 12"
Oil on Hardbord
NFS

We had Forsythia shrubs in our yard growing up, and their cheerful blooms were always the first sign of spring. After seeing a painting by another artist, Azra Iqbal, I was inspired to paint some myself.  It has taken me a couple of weeks to get my hands on a sprig of my own, and I caught it just in time; the Forsythia shrub sheds its flowers, and turns completely green right about now.
